We were hoping we could beat mother nature and make it to Canada for little Maddox's blessing this weekend but the roads were too much (even for a Canadian driver:) Tuesday night we were all packed with lots of goodies and much anticipation for seeing Grandpa, aunts/uncles and cousins, hoping that the roads would have had time to recover from the big storm that passed through...but we weren't so lucky. Wednesday we got up early and managed to get out of the house a little after 4:00 a.m. At first the roads were great but pretty soon everything turned to ice and with the temperatures being so low the snow plows weren't able to clear the road...it was just ice. We managed to make it to Pocatello, when we had to make the difficult decision wheter or not to continue due to the poor road conditions. Many tears were shed in our little van but the decision to turn back was the right one. Sadly it was a total of 12 hours later when we arrived home...pretty lame to have travelled so long and got no where! We had such high hopes and excitement to go to Canada but at least we were safe.

With some quick thinking we whipped up a new set of plans for Thanksgiving weekend and we had a great time. Kate decided to do a Turkey Trot around our field (exactly 1 mile:) Sarah was even able to do her traditional Black Friday shopping although this year will probably be her last...she had a very negative experience shopping...let's just say the wrong spirit of Christmas was in abundance in those wee hours of the morning. She did manage to go shopping Saturday for most of the day and so we are getting close to being ready for Christmas.

Saturday we went up to McCall with the Stampfils for some ice skating and sledding. Surprise, surprise it was snowing like crazy so once again we faced crazy roads with us having to slow do to 40-45 miles/hour (still the roads were nothing compaired to Wednesday). It was Maddie's and Brooke's first time on skates...Maddie did awesome! We all had a lot of fun (except for Brooke sledding:) and it was beautiful.

Although we missed our much anticipated Canadian trip we did have a great weekend...we'll just have to see little Maddox when the weather is a little more friendly.
Love
Dave, Sarah, Jake, Kate, Maddie & Brooke
PS Congratulations Garry/Debbie & the LARGE twins:)
