Temple Celebration

What a week!  Lots of exciting things have happened.  Where to begin...
Jake.  Our new priesthood holder is growing up.  Now activity night is with the "big" scouts and he is loving it.  He has an amazing scout master, Eric Dahle who was in our previous stake presidency.  Brother Dahle definitely turns boys into young men:)  We are very grateful that he is going to play a bigger part in Jake's life.  Jake had an opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Boise Temple Youth Celebration this Saturday evening.  Jake sat across the basketball court at Taco Bell Arena, same level as the prophet.  Although the deacons were not there all day practicing, they did play a part in the grand finale where everyone waves yellow bandannas...it was awesome.  Although I was on the other end of the arena (and up on the balcony) I kept a eye on Jake and was excited for him to be there with the prophet and so many youth.

Kate.  Our creative Kate continues to be an amazing little reader.  It is not uncommon for her to have her light on past 10:00 p.m. with her reading in her bed.  She just finished "Where the Red Fern Grows" and was excited to rent the video on I-Tunes and watch it by herself this weekend.  She has even started to enjoy the Hardy Boys series (imagine that:)  This weekend Jake, Kate, and Maddie had a piano festival at the local community college.  Out of 15 participants her level she ended up getting first place (even a surprise to her as piano may not top her list of favority things to do:).  Way to go Kate.
Maddie.  Speaking of great little piano players, Maddie also won first place for her level.  Little Maddie is a very motivated and obedient girl.  She has Sarah get her up at 6:00 (half hour before everyone else gets up) to practice the piano.  She and the other girls continue to clog and absolutely LOVE dancing.

Brooke.  Brooke continues to be our highly charge bundle of energy.  She is loving pre school and loves to read basic books.  I am amazed at how she sounds out words.  Sadly this weekend both fish ended up in the spirit world (both Rose and Tana) but it was fun while it lasted.  Brooke took it all very well and was excited to flush them down the toilet.

Sarah.  Sarah continues to be the super Mom, doing it all with a smile.  She has been consistent with her Cross Fit work out and has really enjoyed it (I think she could beat me in an arm wrestle now).  Relief Society keeps her busy and focused on the ladies in our ward.

As for me, this has been a big week as we have been getting ready for the Temple Celebration...can I just say WOW!!  Sis Chudleigh (Stake Young Women) were brought into this process a month or so ago and talk about getting a drink from a fire hydrant...we have been incharge of the logistics of transportation and coordination of activities for all the youth in our stake, no small feat (350 people).  Thankfully our stake went with buses but even with that it was no small miracle that we got everyone where they needed to be when they needed to be there and then home:)  Saturday was a full day with practice in Century Link Arena and then to Taco Bell Arena...the church spared no expense.  It was amazing to see SO many youth participating (the arena was filled...9000+ youth!).  The excitement to see Pres Monson was intense and contageous and when he came the kids couldn't help but cheer and cheer and cheer.  We just hope and pray this was a testimony builder and an amazing memory for our kids.
Friday night was date night, but rather than Sarah and I going out I went out with two of the cutes girls I know...yes it was Daddy Daughter night (my first).  It was cowboy theme so Kate and Maddie found cowboy hats at the dollar store and I wore the Canadian cowboy hat Rachel used as a prop for our family reunion (not exactly my size...who needs circulation to the head:).  The girls were so cute and it was a lot of fun.  The food was exceptional and the the leaders went way overboard on the decorations.  We played some games and then attempted to dance (that would be I attempted to dance).  We basically resorted to various twirls and throws that the girls wanted me to do again and again (old age is not for sissies:)  It was a fun night...little Kate and Maddie are awesome kids.
That about does it for this week...we are looking forward to Thanksgiving (one of my favorite holidays).  Hope everyone has a great week!
Love
