Fun in the Snow

Time to get you caught up on our lives...kind of...
Jake has exciting news...he made the percussion team for band...no small feat...only 5 kids and only 2 boys.  Maybe piano has paid off.  Not sure on how that will change the sound level in our house though:)  Jake also just added a Beta fish to our family (a much more welcome addition than our Guinea pigs:)
Kate has begun basketball.  She is doing great and is a contributor to the team.  She is loving it and she is fun to watch.  Kate just finished reading the Hobbit and is excited to go and watch the movie.
Maddie has begun basketball too although she is in the clinic stage and not on a team.  She continues to be our early riser to practice the piano and her guitar.

Brooke continues to go through life at 110%.  Guinea pig story...Rubbie (Brooke's "female" guinea pig) had surgery this week to allow all the guinea pigs back into 1 cage...guess how much the surgery cost...$70...ouch (that's just what Rubbie said too:)  I still remain the anti-pet parent in this whole process...baa hum bug!!  Brooke and Maddie really have a lot of fun with their guinea pigs though which makes it not so bad (until I find their poop all over the house from the kids playing with them).

Last week the kids had their first piano recital with their new teacher Kathy Olsen.  The kids have enjoyed the music selection their new piano teacher uses and they continue to improve.
Sarah continues to do cross fit and is enjoying it now that it is not -10 degrees outside...nothing like hanging onto a metal bar that is colder than your freezer!  Sarah and I have been subbing for Maddie's primary class and Sarah is loving it...she has come up with some really fun little lessons about Joseph Smith...including today having the kids carry/drag the gold plates (20lb dumb bell in a pillow case - shoulder really have been 40-60lbs...about Maddie's weight) through an obstacle course.
As for excitement, this weekend our Friday night was fogged in...too foggy to go to Nampa for shopping so we stayed home and watched a movie.  Saturday was not too much better but we juggled our way through the day with cleaning the church, getting the girls to basketball activities, Sarah and Kate making it to Nampa, cleaning my office, and then Jake, Kate and I heading off to Boise to watch a Boise State basketball game...fun, fun, fun:)

The kids are excited this week because they have Wednesday off from school...life is good as a kid!!

Love

Dave, Sarah, Jake, Kate, Maddie & Brooke
