School is Out

Summer is officially here...or at least school is out:)...the weather has yet to figure out that it should be more summer like.

The kids last day of school was Thursday and so we've all ready been able to sample the wonderful new shift in the morning routine...I can actually sleep in:)

Jake and Kate both did awesome this year. They had their award ceremony where each of them was recognized for getting on the Wall of Fame...even having to perform the Chicken Dance with everyone else:)

Kate had two softball games this week with the latter being rained out. She is really motivated to pitch and so I'm looking forward to learning how to pitch as well so we can practice.

Friday, you'd think everyone wanted to sit back and relax but no, it turned into an offical "stick" earing day, where some very motivated kids worked the entire day with the hope they could earn enough sticks to purchase the things they have been working so hard to earn. Jakes' sights were on the Lego Star Wars III Wii game, Kate was focused on a doll head large enough to do her hair, Maddie was aiming for a Hello Kitty coloring book, and Brooke...well Brooke was Brooke:) To their credit they worked with minimal breaks (bring to mind Chinese labor camp:) and about the time I got home from work there were some very happy kids:) The bonus room was booming with explosions and battles when I returned and the girls were very excited with the fruits of their labors. That night Sarah and I went out to eat while Jake "babysat" if you call playing the Wii while the girls watched a show, babysitting:) They even survived a huge thunderstorm without calling us on the cell phone, proving that they were indeed having fun!

Nothing like a holiday weekend to work on the huge to do list for our yard...sounds too good to be true...well it would have been except for one little factor...the weather. It has been overcast, cold, wet, and raining all weekend...making it impossible to get on the dirt and get going on the sprinkler system or the other 100 things that need to be done. The wetness did make for some good weed pulling and so that was about all that we accomplished. There was a few hours of sunshine in the morning and so Jake and I worked on the sprinkler system for our garden (in hopes that we could plant soon:) Sarah and Kate went shopping for most of the day while we attempted to get what we could done around the house/yard. Then it was hot tub night followed by a movie. Still a good day:)

Hopefully the weather improves so we can get something done tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week.

Love

Dave, Sarah, Jake, Kate, Maddie & Brooke
